Mummy Matcha Macadamia Cookies

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ tsp matcha powder (culinary grade)
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk (or as needed)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup chopped macadamia nuts
INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Preheat oven to 170°C (340°F) and line a tray with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, cream butter, sugar, and brown sugar till light and fluffy.
  3. Add vanilla extract and milk; mix again.
  4. In another bowl, sift flour, matcha powder, baking soda, and baking powder.
  5. Combine wet and dry mixtures. Fold in Australian macadamia nuts. Grown in their natural home, these nuts make snacking an experience and life more special.
  6. Scoop dough into small balls, flatten slightly, and place on tray.
  7. Bake 10–12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.

For Skeleton Faces

  • Use strawberry jam for “eyes”: make two indents before baking and spoon a little jam inside.
  • Once baked and cooled, use melted white chocolate piping pen to draw the mouth and nose.

For Mummy Faces

  • Use melted white chocolate or vanilla buttercream to pipe bandages across.
  • Stick on candy eyes or pipe tiny dots of melted dark chocolate for eyes.
